This exhibition showcases the work of wood crafters from Nara Okuyamato,
Japan, who are inherently influenced by the proximity of living in the woods.
Ch Style, Ichi, Akari Kobo, and MoonRounds have a genuine curiosity towards
human-to-nature connection. Meanwhile, Apple Jack, studio Jig, and Izuru are
influenced by practicality in wood production.
The show which includes 6 sections in total, was designed to bring the
majestic nature of Nara Okuyamato to the exhibition. The plywood board functions
as the primary material for the flat pack pedestals and guide panels for
displaying the main visual, chronology, and text for the audience. Aside from
the tools and sample products, walls were filled with photographs of the
people, the process, and the environment of the workspace including a large
photo of Yoshino forest was installed on the wall of café area.
Through this
exhibition, We aimed to create a space where visitors could immerse themselves
not only in the impeccable work of the craftsmen and designers but also in the
charm of the Yoshino forest itself.
